Dopo ben 3 beta, finalmente è disponibile la versione finale di eMule 0.49a! Lo sviluppo è durato quasi un anno e l'attesa non è stata inutile a giudicare dai numerosi miglioramenti introdotti. La maggior parte di questi si trovano, come si dice in gergo, "sotto il cofano" e quindi non sono visibili nell'interfaccia grafica che è rimasta praticamente la stessa. In particolare questa versione si concentra su dei miglioramenti a 360° della rete Kad, miglioramenti che saranno visibili dopo che la maggior parte della rete avrà aggiornato alla nuova versione.
Proprio per questo incoraggiamo tutti ad aggiornare al più presto alla nuova versione!

Siamo felici di presentarvi di nuovo un altra versione aggiornata del nostro amato eMule. Se dessimo un nome alle nostre versioni invece che dargli semplici numeri identificativi, il nome della serie 0.49 sarebbe qualcosa come "Kad Love". Bene, probabilmente no, perchè non suona molto evocativo, ma spero che abbiate colto l'idea
: eMule0.49 si concentra sul miglioramento della Kad rendendola più stabile, affidabile e a prova di futuro. Certamente altre aree hanno ricevuto un po di attenzione:
Le funzionalità principali di questa versione sono:
* Grandi miglioramenti al protocollo Kad, come offuscamento della Kad, migliore gestione della NAT, callbacks diretti, protezione dai flood, ecc.
* Alcuni cambiamenti al sistema di messaggi per sbarazzarsi degli spammers (tramite Captcha) e stare in contatto con gli amici con IP dinamico.
* Alcuni miglioramenti alla GUI come la memorizzazione delle ricerche tra le sessioni di eMule, un filtro di ricerca per i file condivisi e un accesso più facile al filtro dei commenti.
* E come sempre correzioni di bug e aggiunte di altri piccoli cambiamenti.

.: Reworked Kads Firewall handling and testing:
The kad firewall state is now split into TCP and UDP. The TCP state is basically the old state, which tests if your TCP port is reachable. The UDP state is new and checks if your UDP port is reachable. For example on Full Cone NAT Routers, without portforwarding you will get TCP firewalled (as before) but UDP open (new). If you have the UDP open state, eMule doesn't needs a buddy any longer and will fully participate in the KAD network and therefore take away the overhead they caused in earlier versions (you still cannot connect to other TCP firewalled clients if you are TCP firewalled yourself).
.: The new UDP state is shown in the MyInfo field in the Server Tab. As long as the UDP firewalltest is unfinished "(unverified)" is appended
.: Clients which have the Kad UDP open state, now support direct callbacks (invoked by an UDP packet) to connect to not firewalled clients. These callbacks are faster, more reliable and use less ressources than buddy or server callbacks.
.: The new firewall test also fixes a bug / design flaw which caused eMule to always use the use the clients source UDP port, instead testing if the internal set UDP port might be the propper choice instead. This was especially a problem on Restricted Cone Routers with PAT (Port Address Translation)
